Welcome to the PTA Page!

Slade PTA raises funds for items not covered by funding from the Education Authority. We also try to create and encourage a sense of community within the school and to provide a link between parents, staff and the head teacher.
PTA events are planned by an enthusiastic Committee of about twenty parents who meet approximately every six weeks (once a term) in the evening. We also have 'Friends of the PTA' for parents who do not have the time to attend the regular meetings but still like to help out at occasional events. Please come along to a meeting if you are interested in joining in the PTA or becoming a "friend" - the dates are advertised on this site, our Facebook group and in our termly newsletters.
Regular PTA events in the school calendar include the Christmas Sale, where families donate good quality items which the children can purchase very cheaply to give as presents to their loved ones; the Spring Fair which incorporates a quiz for the children, and egg and spoon races; and the Summer Fete which is the main fundraising event of the year. We also organise the Junior Discos twice a year and run regular second-hand uniform sales (donations of clean outgrown uniform always gratefully received!).
We frequently organise additional events which combine fundraising with a stronger social angle. Recently successes have included a Christmas Shopping evening, Indulgence Evening, Family Bingo, Quiz night, our annual Fireworks Display and are introducing a Family Bingo night in February. We have also helped set up and fund the successful school allotment , Orchard and also provided funding for the Sensory Garden.
In 2008 we produced a 'Little Green Book' packed full of useful information for new parents about the school and PTA (an updated version of this will shortly be printed and also published on this site), then followed this with a 'Little Green Cookbook' in 2009 which was sold to raise funds for the PTA.
Over the last few years Slade PTA has purchased the wooden Play Trail and 'outdoor classrooms' (both on the field), a PA system, water coolers, interactive whiteboards, training chess boards for the Chess Club, dining tables, benches, bicycle and scooter racks and many other useful items for the school. We also provide every child who enters the Reception class with a water bottle, and every child who leaves at the end of year six with a gift (a memory stick to use in secondary school) as well as buying a dictionary for every child as they enter the Juniors in year 3. Please see below for images of some of our bigger purchases.
We have recently funded 16 iPads and storage cabinet to be shared among the classes, a new lighting system in the school hall to be used in the school plays, a solar panel on the roof of I1, a fishtank for the infant corridor, "storyphones" to be used in classrooms and also provided the school with a donation to help subsidise school trips and educational visits to the school.

Have you seen our Facebook group? Much the same information as this website but if you're a frequent user of Facebook it will very handily prompt you when there is a meeting, event or fete.
